METALLICA: 'This Monster Lives' Book Due In November
March 4, 2004"Metallica: This Monster Lives", a book chronicling filmmaker Joe Berlinger's three years spent with METALLICA making the "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster" documentary, is due in November via Martins Press. "It will be designed to tie into the DVD release of the film, which will be [in early 2005]," Berlinger told MTV.com last October. "The movie gives a really great portrait of these guys, but we shot 1,200 hours of material, and now the film is a hair over two hours long. There's so much more to tell."
As previously reported, METALLICA's first official book, tentatively titled "So What! The Metallibook by Metallica", will be published by Broadway Books next August. The 272-page book will center around material from the band's history as documented by "So What!", their fan club magazine, which is in its tenth year. Current band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo will add new material, including an introduction and hand-written notes and comments throughout. The book will be edited by Steffan Chirazi, full-time chronicler of the band and editor of "So What!"
